about

I've always taken an issue with the blatant superficiality and obsession with cars and money in most rap music. "Beamer, Benz, or Bentley" sounds great, but the words used by the artists involved are disappointing. This is my retort, an anti-materialistic take on the original.

lyrics

Lloyd Banks: Beamer, Benz, or Bentley, Beamer, Benz, or Bentley, Beamer, Benz, or Bentley, My jeans are never empty...

Satnam:
Camry, Civic, Caddy
Camry, Civic, Caddy
Camry, Civic, Caddy
Ladies still holla at me

I'm broke, I'm fly, who cares what I drive?
Lease it less than $200, that's a bargain buy
I'm calm, I'm cool, leased it brand new
Fuck a coupe, man, I could fit my whole damn crew

Get me a Camry, Civic, Caddy
Camry, Civic, Caddy
Doesn't matter what I drive,
I won't let the money trap me

Is this what you call rap? No, this is madness
A Beamer, Benz, or Bentley? Weak sign of status
Does it make you the baddest, or just bad ass?
You might push a C-Class, but you should Be-in-Class
Get an education, I ain't hating, (yeah) you got dough
And you find yourself surrounded by all these hoes

That's one hollow existence, if I say so
Me? I play a different tune like a Capo
I don't need a record deal, fuck a label
Most rappers in the game are just a fable

I am not a brothers keeper, this is not Cain & Abel
Yeah, you rock a platinum cross,
Doesn't mean God will save you

Weezy outted you cats about the almighty dollar
Communion's a strip club where you pass Alize bottles
Break bread with the models, yeah, you're on some holy shit
Be proud role models for this example of holiness

I know about the struggle, so you chose this route
Like sports, got kids thinking rap's the way out
Give back to your roots, tell those kids to stay in school
Instill values and beliefs like Dr. King would do
And I pity the fools that foolishly look up to you,
Cause you're as fake as the breasts on the girls jockin' you

No I won't be poppin' you, I don't claim to be strapped
Friendly fire on you cats in one verse of a rap
I have the greatest of intentions, great expectations
So I had to kick ass cause hip-hop needs saving

I'm vintage Wes Craven, you're That's So Raven
After 10 years I'm back like the band Pavement
Bringing that Heat like Shaq when he got traded
Rappin' bout money and cars is SO outdated

It's about hearts on sleeves and real good cadence
It's the blueprint, ask Jay, that's why Drake made it

You can hate it or love it, or you can love it to hate it
You should call your agent and ask about job placement
Get in your Beamer, Benz or Bentley - cruise down to Vegas
Chippendales might hire you as their new entertainment

Basically what I'm saying is that your reign is over
And its gotta be torture to lose your fame and fortune
Put this on your iPhone so you can play this over
Reset button? You wish, because this game is over

Beamer, Benz, or Bentley
Camry, Civic, Caddy
Beamer, Benz or Bentley
The fuck you lookin' at me?
